As a long-term practitioner who has been working with Chinese furniture manufacturers, I have traveled to major furniture production regions across China over the years and discussed cooperation with many factory managers.

Today, combining my practical experience, authoritative data and relevant information from the China National Furniture Association (CNFA), I will share the distribution of core production regions of Chinese furniture manufacturers and the advantages of each region to help you find reliable suppliers.

I. Overview of Core Production Regions (Supported by Authoritative Data)

After so many years in furniture procurement, my deepest feeling is that the clustering advantage of China’s furniture industry is particularly obvious. According to statistics, there are 47 furniture industry clusters in China. Among them, the four major production regions in South China, East China, North China and Southwest China account for more than 90% of China’s total furniture output value, and the output of Guangdong, Fujian and Zhejiang provinces accounts for 78.55% of the national total. Data from China’s General Administration of Customs shows that in 2025, China’s exports of “furniture and its parts” reached 455.94 billion yuan, and its strength is really impressive.

Furniture Manufacturers in China: Regions and Strengths

II. Detailed Explanation of the Four Core Production Regions (Regions + Manufacturers’ Strengths + Specific Data)

(I) South China Region

Centered on Guangdong (including Foshan, Dongguan, Shenzhen and Guangzhou), the South China region is also the region I work with most frequently and feel most assured about. Its furniture output value accounts for more than 40% of the national total, with a complete industrial chain and high level of intelligent manufacturing.

Take Foshan as an example. Every time I go to Foshan for inspection, I can feel the industrial vitality here. The upholstered furniture in Nanhai performs brightly: in 2024, the total industrial chain output value of furniture in Jiujiang exceeded 23.5 billion yuan; in the first seven months of 2025, Foshan’s furniture exports reached 10.64 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.7%, with export growth rates of 13.6% and 6.7% to the Middle East and ASEAN respectively. As of 2026, more than 80% of the above-scale enterprises in Foshan have realized intelligent transformation and digital transformation, with complete export qualifications, complying with EU CE and US CARB P2 standards.

Dongguan is also worth mentioning. I know many furniture factory managers in Dongguan, and they all attach great importance to quality and R&D. There are currently 365 above-scale furniture enterprises, with a total industrial output value of 39.875 billion yuan in 2022.

(II) East China Region

The furniture output value of the East China region accounts for about 30% of the national total. It has clear product category segmentation and outstanding cost performance, and is an important production base for custom and solid wood furniture.

I believe many procurement friends have heard of Hangzhou Kuka Home Furnishing in Zhejiang. Hangzhou Kuka Home Furnishing in Zhejiang has business covering more than 100 countries. According to data from Qianzhan.com in December 2023, the number of furniture enterprises in Zhejiang ranks second in the country, of which 80% are small and medium-sized enterprises with a registered capital of less than 1 million yuan.

Jiangsu’s furniture industry also has its own characteristics. I have been to Kunshan, Likou in Suzhou and Shaji Town in Xuzhou, and each place has its own advantages. Kunshan in Suzhou has built a high-end sofa base relying on HTL; Likou in Suzhou is an important furniture distribution center in East China; Shaji Town in Xuzhou has 5 industrial parks, with more than 200,000 people engaged in furniture-related industries.

(III) North China Region

The North China region focuses on solid wood and office furniture, with abundant solid wood raw materials and high cost performance.

As the “Hometown of Solid Wood Furniture“, Ningjin in Shandong has gathered more than 5,300 market entities and 50,000 practitioners, and the dining tables and chairs produced here account for more than 50% of the market share north of the Yangtze River.

Xianghe in Hebei has gathered thousands of manufacturers, mainly focusing on mid-to-low-end solid wood and panel furniture; manufacturers in Beijing and Tianjin focus more on high-end office and custom furniture.

(IV) Southwest China Region

The furniture output value of the Southwest China region accounts for about 10% of the national total, with the advantages of abundant raw materials and outstanding cost performance.

There are currently thousands of furniture manufacturers in Chengdu, most of which are small and medium-sized enterprises, and their prices are lower than those in South China and East China.

III. Comparison of Core Advantages of Manufacturers in Each Region

Region (Core Area)Core AdvantagesKey CategoriesSuitable Procurement Scenarios
South China Region (Guangdong)Complete industrial chain, intelligent, strong export capacityUpholstered, panel, high-end custom furnitureOverseas bulk procurement, high-end custom procurement
East China Region (Zhejiang, Jiangsu)Professional segmented categories, high cost performanceSolid wood, office, custom furnitureSmall and medium-sized batch procurement, segmented category procurement
North China Region (Shandong, Hebei)Abundant solid wood raw materials, affordable price

IV. Practical Procurement Suggestions

Combining my procurement experience over the years, I sincerely give you a suggestion: when choosing furniture manufacturers, there is no need to blindly pursue fame; you should choose according to your own procurement needs.

Based on experience, for overseas bulk procurement, priority should be given to manufacturers in South China (Foshan, Dongguan), which have complete export qualifications and stable production capacity, and most of them participate in CIFF China International Furniture Fair; for small and medium-sized batch procurement, choose East China; for solid wood procurement, choose North China (Ningjin, Shandong); for cost-sensitive procurement, choose Southwest China (Chengdu).
